The Finished Assemblage

I spent a lot of time on my work which is an assemblage of self-portrait. The hardest and the first thing to do was the project idea. I had to think a lot what are my characteristic features and interests. Finally I ended up with one interesting project but unfortunately I had to give it up because it was not very metaphorical. I do not have photos of the first project because to create next I had to use elements from the previous one . I just could not take photos because it was too late. Next project was much more metaphorical. I included some cd's that can mean many things I also attached batteries and a plug. The background is made out of old box and covered with jeans. In my opinion the outcome is great although I could improve some things next time. If I had to do this once again I would attach the jeans better and use better glue to stick the batteries. I think the work is a very good self-portrait and has some great metaphores of my traits and interests.

Assemblage

Assemblage (fr. assemblage - gathering, collection, collection)  the composition of the elements, a three-dimensional collage form.
Assemblage is a work consisting of different types of objects: everyday use, useless fragments of natural forms, or any possible objects. The work is created with objects that are not created by the author of assemblage, but only used by him, and sometimes specially crafted or adapted. Assemblage can be a single object form or even a combination of a number of assemblages. It can be described as a kind of three-dimensional collage. The individual parts of the assemblage can be glued, bound, placed in a kind of common container, loosely laid, hung next to each other, etc.

An example of assemblage:

                                                       Władysław Hasior "Gwiazda Kurortu"

Culture inspired mask - evaluation

To sum up I must say that I really thought I can produce a better mask. One of disadvantages of this mask is the lack of details in my opinion. I could add some more flowers or patterns to make this mask much more interesting. The next thing I  think is well done  is the choice of colors because they seem to be very light and energetic. I like these contrans because it gives some dynamic to the mask and the mixture is very energetic. Also for example the attachment to the head is very good and practical. I guess if I had better equipment such as better paints I could make a better mask.

Culture inspired mask

On one of the lessons we were creating culture inspired masks. At first we had to do some research and after choosing our inspiration we could proceed and prepare a sketch. I was fascinated especially by masks of some african and asian tribes. I wanted my mask to be influenced somehow by their culture. I decided to paint it white and add some elements in other colour. In my project I also predicted how my mask will be attached to head. I did not want it to be much pretty. White paint should remind peace and calmness but on the other hand the red color is about readiness to fight. Everything worked out well in my opinion and here are some photos of the mask.
